Great round up and ode to the modern day Empress, Alysa. 🥰

I wrote a poem early on in my substack about my hair loss. I’m still looking for the right supplement. I’ve tried Viviscal and Nutrafol. Nope. HRTs are not in my future or my past since I had bcancer and was estrogen positive.

It was great to meet you!

Let me ask around. I have a fro nd in your exact situation who looks great these days. I’ll ask her what she discovered for her hair loss. Thank you for commenting and agree, great to meet you!!

Hi, CK! I asked around and here is what one friend sent, good luck! I hope it helps:

"Hmm- so the hair loss isn’t cancer related but age/menopause related? My cancer also ER/PR+ so I get it. I have a little luck with Nutrafol when I also used Vegamor drops at the same time. Straight Biotin (vitamin B7) also helps and I know other people have had good success with Minoxidil (rogaine) accelearing hair growth after chemo so maybe worth a try?"

Thx for investigating! I will try biotin again but read that it metabolizes quickly. I can’t do Nutrofol at all because it’s high in iodine and I have hashimotos. No iodine with thyroid issues. I will try Rogaine. Minoxidil in pill form helps with hair loss but It’s used for hypertension. I have low BP. Will try Rogaine and Biotin. Thx!!

I wish you didn't have these health challenges. You handle them with grace and a killer sense of humor. Thank you for Good Humor:)

Alisa is such a force of good! So glad you spent time with her to mine that wisdom ore of hers. I especially appreciated her emphasis on the importance of questioning the narrative we’ve been fed, and choosing how to write our own. I’d love to hear more about how Alisa’s narrative evolves living with epilepsy. (I have her book Gotham Girl on my kindle queued up to read just as soon as I finish another one of her recommendations.) And p.s thanks for the mention Alisa!

Agreed, Kimberly! For so many women we put our heads down and plow through what we need to, forgetting to remember ourselves and where we are in our lives. At our Empress age, it's important to look up, as it were. She has a great voice! She is strong without being pushy or negative. @alisakennedyjones wonder if she can chime in? Thanks so much for commenting, Kimberly!

I don’t think anyone will agree with me about hair styles. It’s a personal preference but when I look at TV, pictures and women in general, they all look alike. Long, straight and middle part.

One look does not fit all. If you have long hair please try different styles other than a ponytail or messy bun. Layers, waves, movement, braids the possibilities are endless!

Perms are back, try one or just curl your hair for a change. Bangs are back, even if you try clip ons. Natural hair is back, try it again.

Rant over! As a retired stylist it’s boring and not flattering for everyone.

PS At 50 I had hair to my bra strap.

Wow that’s some long hair! I have always been pretty boring with hair styles bc I have fine hair so it doesn’t behave when layered. It turns into a bush in humidity so there are my waves etc!
