We can agree to disagree on Botox. I do my angry 11s between my eyes and the softening of them makes me happy. Happiness is a good thing and we all have things that make us happy that don’t make others happy. But I appreciate your thoughts. ❤️
I started singing the Julie Andrews number from "The Sound of Music" in my kitchen as I was reading this... "I have confidence in sunshine, I have confidence in rain, I have confidence that spring will come again... besides which you see, I have confidence in meeeee." I don't know how to judge my appearance as a midlife woman at 55... In one year, I have been rejected by one handsome chap who looks like Sting but also by another fellow, who I thought would be a slam dunk, but who looks kind of like Shrek so, I'm thinking...ehh... just gimme the turtleneck???
I love that song and played that movie on repeat for years and when I first showed it to my girls I was floored that it was about the nazis. Floored! Anyway. You’re a gem and you don’t need men to give you confidence but I get how it’s nice to have a relationship. But you have it all and don’t you forget it, lady. ❤️
The hands! I remember my sister was maybe 22ish when she told me someone had come in to her work and guessed the age difference between her and her boss just by looking at their hands. In my mid-20s myself, I had no idea that was a thing yet. But she said the person was spot on for both of them, and she was surprised they could tell that her boss was older just by that. Her boss’s age? 29!
I love this! You are bold, old and beautiful! As kids my older sisters would taunt me-- they knew more because they were older. Adult women should do the same in a sense. I'm 61-- I've got a bit of wisdom on you-- well, that's what I tell my daughter anyway. Hehe.
Too true, CK. Isn’t there strength in knowing stuff because you’ve lived long enough? I have three daughters and we have zero subjects we won’t discuss. I want them to have some info I didn’t. It’s unlike our childhoods. I know more than I need to about them. But I hope to save them from the unknown that I know.
I love the emphasis on confidence because it’s so true. And yes many women stop getting male attention as we age but male attention isn’t the thing we should be striving for. Good friendships , good family, health, peace with oneself. So many important things. And lastly if a little cosmetic procedure makes you feel better go for it

You look gorgeous and ageless, you could be 29.

Great friends and family and great humor are what I lean into. But we do need to spread our focus as we age and that’s ok!
Thank you. Would you edit out the last line about Botox? It contradicts your valuable argument which deserves to be read and amplified.
Hi, Deirdre! I replied to your comment but it ended up at the top of the comments, somehow. Did you get it?
