thank you so much Katy! Any thoughts on how to fill a need void if one has one?

Great point Kim about unintentionally filling our time with volunteering when it might end up leaving us more drained than we expected. Becoming an empty-nester can be a great transition to more fulfillment if we take the time to turn our lens inward and see what’s there. What’s hiding behind the years of busyness and service? What is important to me now? For most of us this is not an easy thing to figure out and, of course, it’s going to change over time but perhaps it’s the question itself that leads the way. I’ve found it’s rarely easy.

Also, I love your tree, gardening to the rescue!

I think your point, " it’s going to change over time" is so important to keep in mind. Everything is going to change over time...that's life. What have you found that has been most meaningful to you during this transitional time?

Recommitting to writing has been the most meaningful to me and, sadly, life has got in the way of me being able to do that recently so I miss it. Also making a firm commitment to my health and the need for daily exercise and all that goes with it.

It's not about being needy yourself...but as a GenX woman I was brought up to participate, to volunteer etc...then becoming a parent and a wife and a daughter, people need me then they don't...then I started this blog...what do you think?
