Remember when we used to get lots of home Magazines and rip out inspiring pages? I make a point of ordering those magazines or going to my local drugstore that has them because without that kind of inspiration it’s hard to envision what you might want and what’s out there. What do you think?

I miss magazines! Pinterest served for a time (years ago), but it's just an AI slop factory now. And it's not the same. For me, it's usually cooking magazines. I have binders full of colorful recipes. Harder now to foot the cost of most magazines, but I will sometimes get sucked in by a cover on the news stand. Knowing it will live on my end table for many years. :-)

If you get a subscription it’s A LOT cheaper! AD, House Beautiful, etc….I also get the New yorker, Vanity Fair, and The Atlantic…The New Yorker is hard to keep up with, being weekly, but it stays fresh for the most part and doesn’t have to be read like a news paper.

My kids have the two BEST ROOMS in our house. Both upstairs. Our "master bedroom" barely has room for our bed and two dressers. In other words, I can't WAIT to turn one of the upstairs bedrooms into my own work, nap, yoga space. But we've only been here 10 years ... might feel differently in another 10.

Yes, the "upstairs" is the part that you might rethink :) My friend is redoing her own room down to the second floor with a new bathroom and closet for her and her husband. They thought of selling the "family house" where they raised four kids but then realized....they already have an expanding family who lives in the area! A two bedroom condo with grandkids isn't her Vision so they are renovating a master (primary) bedroom on a lower floor...

First order of business will be to install a shower in the upstairs bathroom. Both my kids are entering teenager-dom and I'd LOVE for them to have their own space for primping, and de-stinking. 😂 It's hard enough keeping our one downstairs bathroom in decent shape for guests when my husband and I have all our affects in there. But, you do what you can with what you have!

I apply that philosophy to everything in my life. Do the best with what you’ve got…

Love these pics! I also love decorating/nesting. We’ve had to move a few times but wherever we went I made sure my kids had a room to come home to.

Did you decorate the room with them in mind? Or, for VIP guests in general? A dual purpose room?
