I agree. Good one. It's okay to keep some things just because you can't bear to let them go. But for other textiles, you can give them away through Helpsy. It is sponsored by the city of Boston. Apparently they sort the clothes and other textiles into ones that can be worn again or not. They will even come and pick up. It makes me feel better about getting rid of things because few of the textiles will go into landfill.
A little past your "era" as we have moved three times since empty-nesting. However....the acid free boxes remain and, yes, have items akin to yours. The "Zip" stuffed monkey my great grandmother gave me as a child, my 37 year old daughter's Bitty Baby, American Girl doll, Christening dress, and the Feltman Brothers dress she wore home from the hospital after her birth. I can't, just can't. Sometimes I just look at the box, its contents too bittersweet to view. I don't like becoming the periphery in my children's lives though I brought them up ON PURPOSE to be incredibly independent. They are all thriving, and I "should" be happy. Sometimes I am, but sometimes I just want to rewind clock. I don't want a do-over; I want a do-again...foibles and all. Thanks for you transparency in sharing. It does help knowing I'm not "weird" or alone.
Hilarious this is a good one Kim! I am slowly waking up. Realizing today is the day I marked to deal with my clothes.
Ha! So I guess we women have an interior alert to declutter! Funny my husband does not have that alert for his closet at all!
This was fun and funny. Great quotables.
Thank you, CK..I was on a rant roll...and cracking myself up...I think you can relate?
Who knew Marie Kondo could swear like a sailor?
Oh, she's a saucy one to be sure...Just kidding. I don't want a defamation suite on my hands...hahahah
