I laughed all the way through. Been there, done that (not the Basilica, but traveling with young adult kids). I also remember being the young adult kid traveling with parents and feel a bit guilty about what a brat I could be. At a certain point, if you’re lucky, you are the middle aged child traveling with your aging parent and you appreciate the love of travel they gifted you and can thank them and apologize for your young adult impatience. for now, know your kids are blessed that you’ve exposed them to so much that they feel confident breaking off from you in foreign places to go off alone!

Thank you, Lisa, and I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. It must be a time of great reflection for you and your family. In fact, this spring, I traveled for two weeks with my parents. Two different sets. I enjoyed it thoroughly so we weren’t being Taurus. I was just at a resort with one and at a house with another. As an only child, I used to travel a lot alone with my parents, so it was funny all these years later to be doing it again. We laughed about it.

I keep reminding myself that our kids are on loan to us. When we traveled with them, we would do one art adventure/outing in the morning and usually leave the afternoons for napping, books, and lazing by the pool. If I overscheduled things, I'd quickly see a mutiny. At 4'11", Teodora had more authority over all of us than I ever would--what with her spells and chickens.😂

It really is gorgeous. And if you like seafood, Barcelona is the place for you. I love the food and the people are very kind and patient. The basilica at Montserrat is gorgeous. If you look in the middle, you can see a little silver area and that is where the throne is that people wanted to see, but was sold out.
