Today, I’m just walking my dog, catching up on sleep and rewatching a good show!

That sounds like a good day, Kathleen! Hope it was a funny show. I’ve been watching a lot of tennis and hanging with the folks. Tomorrow I go back to life, preparing for Fall.

It is a beautiful sunny day in Boston! I plan to walk around the esplanade and then organize my office. I am finishing up an article regarding how to research your historic home which is tied to my off market listing : 53 Chestnut Street in Beacon Hill. Through deeds, insurance maps, newspapers and books, the residents and events come alive! It was home to some creative residents including a famous early 20th playwright and manager of the Globe Theater ; Victor Mapes and an 18th Century woman sculptor named Florence “flori” Freeman. A marble bust she created of the Angel Sandalphon, gifted to Longfellow, stands today at the Longfellow museum house in Cambridge. Flori was good friends with Ann Whitney and had a studio in Rome. In 1876, She created a marble chimney piece of children playing with a yule log that was displayed at the Philadelphia Centennial and purchased by a Boston family who placed it in their Mount Vernon home where it remains today!

Learning the history of your home not only provides a connection to the past but also helps inform how and when your home was built and the quality materials and workmanship that is unique and valuable.
