It’s WSG’s 3rd Anniversary! Have an idea you want me to cover this year? Send me an email or leave a comment:
Things you can make and things that look like you made them!
Paper Whites in a Vessel
Such a simple gift but truly lovely to look at (and smell). The container can be as inexpensive as a glass jar with white pebbles and pretty bow to a silver cup! One reader says she goes to thrift stores and find bowls and cups and fills the bottom with stones, plants the bulbs and when they really sprout she adds moss to hide the stones. Paper whites are an iconic symbol for the holiday season! A ‘thank you’ to Raleigh Y for sending her ideas in!
Homemade Goodies in pretty container!
Curry roasted pecans? Cheese cookies? Baked goods? Easy to make, economical, and not something people do for themselves. Treats are a welcome gift! Put them in a tin, or cellophane with wax paper and pretty bows!
Gift of time
Schedule a set of dinners with your parents, with your friends, your neighbors. Or, plan some outings: a spa day with your kids or your partner, even your sibling! Make a coupon book or a hand written card with a box of candy to deliver you intentions.
Humor!
Aren’t we all a little uptight these days? A bit sensitive? Let’s take a trip down memory lane when our culture wasn’t so politically correct, the late 70s and early 80s! I love a good visual humor book, here is a list of throwback books you might consider giving:
Do you know any women who are trying to navigate that “Now what?!” phase of life with positivity and humor? Or maybe you just want to drop a hint for something on this list? Share this post with a friend!
GIFT IDEAS FROM YOU!
5 PIECE BLOCK PRINT PACKING CUBE SET, Mark and Graham
How cute are these? I love the idea of opening my suitcase and seeing the uniformed adorable packing bags/cubes lined up in my bag. The patterns available remind me of Pierre Deux, whom I still miss a lot. I got the idea from several moms of daughters, but boys might like them too! Thank you Caroyn M for sharing your idea with me!
HORRIBLE IDEA NEEDLEPOINT PILLOW by Furbish
I love a needlepoint pillow. I used to needlepoint. I have bags of unfinished projects in a box in a closest. These pillows from Furbish are great because not only did I not have to finish them but someone else also had them made into pillows (a very costly thing to do in the real world)! They have lots of choices of snappy quotables and they are very colorful! Thank you, Annsley for sharing your gift idea with me!
Roxanne Assoulin Jewelry
One of the better websites aimed at young women I have seen. Inexpensive and fun, RA has it going on for the young women in your life! Thank you Suzie T for sharing your gifting idea!
Pretty Cloth Napkins on Etsy from Tovaglioli!
Incredibly affordable at $39.79 in six different sets! Perfect for the young and old alike! Thank you Allison P for sharing your idea with me!
Dude Robe
Here is what they have in their “About” section and I think it is funny:
“Back in 2016, I was in the shower staring at her in her robe…and this was basically the thought that went through my mind. “I like to be comfy too…but what can I wear? Not a robe, that’s for sure.” “I’d wear a towel, but towels look weird.”“Why haven’t robes changed much in the past several hundred years? And why are men’s robes and women’s robes exactly the same?” Then I turned and saw a hoodie hanging on the hook next to my towel. “I’d wear a towel if it looked like a hoodie.”” Thank you Annie S. for sharing your idea with me!
Give the gift of premium! For $8 a month you never know what I’ll come up with for my squad. Videos, lists, insider interviews!
OTHER SUGGESTIONS FROM READERS (Substack isn’t great with loading lots of photos onto the platform:)
Esker Firming oil: Smells luxurious and works well according to reader Laryn!
Soleil Tourjours: Impressive sun/skin products that are environmentally sound. Thank you, Sloane for sending in your idea about your friend’s company!
