Spring. Ah. We have blossoms bursting on the trees in Boston. The birds are up at 4:30 in the morning and so am I. I know you are too because a lot of people read this blog then! It’s why I send it out so early, for you.
Spring. It’s the start of something, like the way the Fall is the start of the school year. Frankly, I think Spring and Fall are more like a start to something than January 1. But maybe that’s just me. Isn’t it inspiring to think the days are getting longer and brighter and greener and warmer. Let the window cleaning commence! Storm windows, be gone! Windows, open! We left our garden door open today to air out the house, and the burnt pop corn smoke. But, that’s another story for another post. Something to do with kids home on break. I digress.
Go outside and look down. Little bits of green are poking through the dirt and on the bony, brown branches. New little lives fight their way into 2024. Visions of Spring give me motivation and a, well, a spring in my step. It has rained for two weeks or more here which was super depressing. But it was sunny today and all is forgotten.
This Easter and Passover is the first all the kids are gone. We usually do an Easter egg hunt in our garden, and invite some neighbors. Pel hides tons of plastic eggs full of goodies and one has a $50 bill in it. But, all the neighbors kids are away and ours will be too. But, not tonight! We did a mini hunt with one kid in the house. Pel hid six eggs in the living room and one or two had some money in them. It wasn’t much, but, it was nice. Then we watched college basketball together and I made some chili for us. Passover will be Pel and me at my Dad and step mom’s. Great food and some basketball. Each holiday changes since the kids graduated high school. That’s as it should be I guess. Change.
I think that’s it for tonight. Next weekend I will be releasing the Cindy Sterling interview and it’s a good’un.
MEET ME IN THE COMMENTS!
Tell me about your traditions for Spring. If your kids are out of the house what do you do for the Spring holidays?
Oh, I so miss the days of makings eggs with the kids... Donning the bunny ears bright and early. Making quirky baskets. Alas, they've flown the nest and we had a massive hurricane here Friday, but by today so gorgeous...all the roses in bloom... and SF feeling a little more hopeful.
Ah, empty nester here. Plus, we live too far away from our kids. I think you already know our sitch. I will be seeing my sister, her fam, preggers-neice, my dad and his wife for Passover. I'll get to see my kids tho in Boston in May for my daughter's Bridal Shower. I have an exciting spring planned.
